Two student teams from Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) have taken top honors in the first edition of the Agritech Hackathon or “Agrithon,” organized by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Authority (ADAFSA) and held as part of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Week.

The president of Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), Professor Eric Xing, and his delegation, met with the President of École Polytechnique (L’X) and Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP), Eric Labaye. The two leaders discussed a wide range of research initiatives in artificial intelligence at L’X and IP Paris, as well as at MBZUAI in the United Arab Emirates.

Professor of Computer Science and Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Raj Reddy, spoke recently as part of the MBZUAI Executive Program. Reddy, a Turing Award laureate, served as the founding Director of the Robotics Institute and as the Dean of the School of Computer Science at CMU. He has also served as the President of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and is an inaugural IEEE Intelligent Systems’ AI Hall of Fame inductee.

Music, dance and food brought together MBZUAI’s multicultural student body to celebrate International Day 2021 on November 17 at the Masdar City campus. The colorful and lively event featured country pavilions, performances, and a buffet of international cuisine. It is the first event of its kind in MBZUAI’s short history, attracting more than 300 staff, faculty, researchers, and students.

Microsoft Technical Fellow and Azure AI Chief Technology Officer Dr. Xuedong Huang is slated to speak as part of the MBZUAI Executive Program. In his role at Microsoft, Huang is responsible for making the dream of machines that see, hear and understand human beings a reality. As part of the Executive Program, Huang will take participants through a course on enhanced business via AI-powered communications.
