Professor Tsybakov’s teaching and research interests span nonparametric function estimation and testing, high-dimensional statistics, interactive decision making, gradient-free optimization, statistical inverse problems.

In addition to his position at MBZUAI, Professor Tsybakov is a Professor at the Statistics department of ENSAE Paris, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, and Professor at Sorbonne Université (Paris). He is an author of three books and has more than 150 journal papers in the field of mathematical statistics and machine learning. Professor Tsybakov held a Professor appointment at the Department of Applied Mathematics of École Polytechnique (2009-2015), Distinguished Visiting Professor appointment at MIT (2017), short-term Professor appointments at the University of California Berkeley, University of Pennsylvania, Yale University and several other research institutions. Professor Tsybakov is a member of Editorial board of several journals including "Mathematical Statistics and Learning" (co-Editor in chief) and "Mathematical Foundations of Machine Learning”.
