University Calendar

Academic Year 2020/2021

This calendar notes important dates throughout MBZUAI academic year 2020/2021. MBZUAI year is divided into two main semesters – Fall and Spring. Classes are held Sunday through Thursday; weekend days are Friday and Saturday.

The calendar contains the final date by which students can add or drop a course, which is the end of the first week of the semester. Students need to be sure to make these changes during the add/drop period otherwise they might be penalized. The dates for withdrawal without penalty are provided in the following academic calendar.

FAQs

When do I submit my final transcripts for admission to MBZUAI?

You are expected to submit the official transcripts upon securing admission and once you are onboard.

When is the admission deadline?

We admit students on a rolling admission basis. Deadline for submission is on 15th of July.

When will I be notified about the final decision on my MBUZAI admission application?

Be sure to monitor MBZUAI’s online portal regularly for any updates regarding your application. Pending tasks will delay the processing of your application. Please contact the admission department for an estimated time frame to expect a decision.

What do I do if I need to withdraw after being admitted to MBZUAI?

Students who wish to withdraw should notify the admission office. Applications can be deferred to the following semester or the following academic year, pending approval from the Admission Committee.

I am due to graduate after the admissions deadline closes and I haven’t received my degree certificate yet. Can I still apply?

Yes, you can still apply, transcripts and degrees will only be required once an admission offer has been issued.

What are the minimum English language requirements (e.g. TOFEL/IELTS test scores)?

For all graduate programs: Internet-based TOEFL: Minimum overall score of 90, with 20 or above in each element, taken in one sitting, or IELTS (academic): Minimum grade of 6.5, with 6.0 or above in each element, taken in one sitting.

Is there any Age limit to apply and study at MBZUAI?

No, there is No age limit.

What are the requirements to apply?

For Master’s Programs:

  • Completed Degree: Bachelor of Science or equivalent from an accredited university or college recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education. • Academic Transcripts: Student should be amongst the top 20% of the class. A minimum GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale), or equivalent if required.
  • English Language: Internet-based TOEFL: Minimum overall score of 90, with 20 or above in each element, taken in one sitting, or IELTS (academic): Minimum grade of 6.5, with 6.0 or above in each element, taken in one sitting.

What are the procedures for applying?

The application shall be accompanied by the following documentation: Application form for admission University degrees and transcripts English proficiency test scores (TOEFL or IELTS) Curriculum Vitae Personal motivational statement Statement of purpose Two letters of recommendation from academic supervisors/lecturers (preferred) or previous employer Research thesis proposal (3 – 4 pages) Passport copy Copy of Emirates ID (if applicable) Can I make changes to my applications? Students will be allowed to change any information and upload documents prior to the submission of their application. Should the applicant wish to change any information and upload documents after the submission of their application, a request specifying the required change and the justification will need to be sent admission office by email at: X@mbzuai.ac.ae for assistance. It is not possible to make changes if you have already submitted your application. Please contact the Admissions team by email
