Hong (Dekyi) Liang advises the President of Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence on strategy development and organizational management. She also spearheads the university’s many strategic projects, including the establishment of the Institute of Foundation Models, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and the university’s flagship executive training program-MEP. Liang currently oversees the operation of the University’s labs in France and US.
Liang has extensive experience in corporate finance, strategic investment, and entrepreneurial initiatives. Prior to joining MBZUAI in 2020, Liang was an investment committee member at an AI industrial investment fund. She was the co-CEO of Topit.me, an image-sharing application, Vice President of Yoka.com and Joint Company Secretary of China Dongxiang (Group) Co., Ltd. Liang started her career at King and Wood Mallesons, one of Asia’s top tier international law firms, where she actively advised on capital market transactions.
Liang earned her Bachelor of Laws from Peking University, Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, and Executive Master of Business Administration from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.
