Job Purpose

The Head of Accreditation (HoA) is responsible for oversight of MBZUAI’s academic
accreditation and relicensing efforts. The HoA will coordinate with internal stakeholders in producing accreditation
related documents, organizing site visits, and proposing responses to accreditation recommendations. S/He will be
the University’s primary liaison with the Abu Dhabi Education and Knowledge Department and with the UAE Commission
on Academic Accreditation, supporting the development and submission of relevant accreditation and licensing
documentation and initiating requests for information as needed. The incumbant will coordinate with faculty, quality
assurance, institutional research, and other University stakeholders to assure that appropriate evidence is
marshalled in a timely manner. Through these processes s/he will assure that accreditation is secured for new
programs and maintained for existing programs as per institutional needs and regulatory requirements. The position
reports to the Senior Director of Academic Affairs and supervises the Program Development Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the writing of all accreditation documentation
  • Maintain accreditation “boiler plate” text – assuring that this is material is up-to-date and readily available
    to stakeholders as needed.
  • Edit all submissions for stylistic consistency.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance
  • Integrate existing quality assurance results into accreditation documentation.
  • Help identify any gaps in quality assurance measures and/or areas of substantive quality assurance concerns.
  • Support the development of new quality assurance mechanisms that assure continuous improvement of programs and
    processes.
  • Coordinate with Faculty
  • Maintain open lines of communication to assure that accreditation efforts remain appropriately scheduled to meet
    target implementation deadlines for new programs and substantive changes.
  • Identify potential program-specific challenges and assist programs in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Work with faculty to address recommendations and suggestions raised by accreditation review teams.
  • Help assure that programs function in accordance with specifications provided to accreditors or that substantive
    change requests are implemented when required to facilitate changes.
  • Coordinate with other stakeholders
  • Maintain an accreditation and relicensure calendar to allow stakeholders ample time to prepare for pending
    submissions.
  • Work proactively that institutional research, the registrar, and other units are aware of the routine data
    requests that facilitate accreditation efforts and can provide them as needed.
  • Coordinate with admissions and recruitment to assure that practices and stated process remain aligned over time.

Academic
Qualification

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Professional
Experience

  • 8 + years of administrative experience in higher education.
  • Experience leading and evaluating projects in the higher education sector.
  • Documented experience working with UAE Education regulators.
