Hao Li is a leading expert in computer vision, graphics, and AI, serving as a Professor of Computer Vision and Director of the Metaverse Center at MBZUAI, as well as CEO of Pinscreen.
With industry experience at Weta Digital and Industrial Light & Magic/Lucasfilm, and academic roles at USC and Berkeley, he has been recognized among MIT Technology Review’s top 35 innovators and has made significant contributions to human digitization, neural rendering, and the metaverse.
Michalis Vazirgiannis is an affiliated professor of Machine Learning with expertise in Graph ML/GNNs, NLP/LLMs, and graph foundation models. He is known for developing the “Graph of Words” method and applying AI to complex data in fields like biomedicine.
He holds a Ph.D. from University of Athens and has held academic roles at École Polytechnique and AUEB, with visiting positions at KTH. He has also worked in industrial projects with, among others, AIRBUS, BNP, AXA, LVMH, CMA-CGM bringing thus applied experience to his work at MBZUAI.
Eduardo da Veiga Beltrame is an Assistant Professor of Computational Biology at MBZUAI, specializing in single-cell omics and precision medicine.
He has industry experience as bioinformatics lead at ImYoo and founding scientist at Retro Biosciences, as well as academic roles at Caltech and UC Berkeley.
Gus Xia is an Associate Professor of Machine Learning at MBZUAI, focusing on designing intelligent systems to enhance human musical creativity and expression.
He holds a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University and has prior academic experience as a Global Network Assistant Professor in Computer Science at NYU Shanghai, with affiliations at NYU Tandon, the Center for Data Science, and the Music and Audio Research Laboratory.
Alham Fikri Aji is an Assistant Professor of Natural Language Processing at MBZUAI and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Monash University Indonesia, focusing on efficient NLP and under-resourced languages.
His industry experience includes roles at Amazon, Google, and Apple, and he co-initiated IndoNLP to advance NLP research for Indonesian languages.
