Research Interests

Professor Oullier’s research interests and entrepreneurial activities focus on advancing the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) through the development of multimodal interfaces, particularly Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) designed to support people with determination and enhance the well-being and performance of all users. His core interest lies in enabling machines, devices and digital environments to dynamically adapt to users’ neural, bodily, cognitive, and emotional states. As an entrepreneur, he transforms cutting-edge scientific insights into impactful innovations by developing successful technology infrastructures, platforms, and products, with a particular focus on responsible AI and data ownership.

Prior to joining MBZUAI, Professor Oulliers roles included President of EMOTIV, a global leader in portable brain-sensing neurotechnologies; Global Head of Strategy in Health and Healthcare Industries and Executive Committee member at the World Economic Forum (WEF); and Scientific Advisor to the French Prime Minister in charge of the Neuroscience and Public Policy Program. Professor Oullier is co-founder of the WEF Young Global Leaders (YGL) Assistive Tech & AI for Inclusion Impact Initiative (AT4i) and is the producer and host of “The Centaurs” podcast.

Alongside his role at MBZUAI,
Professor Oullier is also the CEO and co-founder of Inclusive Brains, a company that empowers digital and physical environments to be responsive, adaptive, and predictive supporting users’ decision-making processes, augmenting performance, while safeguarding physical and mental health. He serves as Chairman of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence at Biotech Dental Group, where he is also Chief AI Scientist.
