Research Interests

Professor Afacan's reserach focuses on market design, allocation mechanisms, applied microeconomics, and game theory, contributing to both theoretical and practical advancements in these areas.

Prior to joining MBZUAI, Professor Afacan previously served as an Associate Professor of Economics at Qatar University and as Network Faculty at Sabanci University. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University. His research focuses on market design, allocation mechanisms, applied microeconomics, and game theory, contributing to both theoretical and practical advancements in these areas. With over 15 years of academic experience, Professor Afacan has built a broad teaching portfolio that includes courses in economics, statistics, and mathematics. He remains actively engaged in both research and education, with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary and applied approaches in economic theory.
