The MBZUAI senior leadership team led by President Eric Xing has hosted a number of important delegations recently. On-campus visits strengthen the university’s ties with international academia and industry, while expanding opportunities for collaboration on programs, research and knowledge sharing. It is also an opportunity to showcase the university’s facilities at Masdar City, Abu Dhabi.
École Polytechnique (L’X) delegates visited MBZUAI for three days in early-March including Professor Eric Moulines, and Director of International Affairs Gaelle Le Goff to discuss joint academic programs. Moulines is co-scientific director at Hi! Paris and heads up the interdisciplinary center in AI and data science at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris). An MBZUAI delegation previously visited France to commence planning such innovative programs.
President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Professor Tony Chan, met with Xing, on March 10, 2022. As two of the leading computer science universities in the Middle East, on top of the agenda was the importance of collaboration, and how recruitment and research opportunities might be enhanced.
Her Excellency, Paula Vega, minister of science, technology, innovation and communications of Costa Rica, met an MBZUAI partnerships delegation led by Sultan Al Hajji, vice president for public affairs and alumni relations, on March 23, 2022.
Xing, and Al Hajji, met with His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation for the Republic of South Africa Dr. Bladi Nzimandi on March 25, 2022.
