Voices from the Program

  • Hana Gani
“The Pilot Mentorship program enhanced my skills as a mentor and volunteer, and provided me with a platform to disseminate whatever knowledge I possess to a broader audience. It also taught me that mentorship is not all about giving, but it is a mutual give-and-take process. I got to learn a great deal of knowledge from my mentees.

I would definitely recommend joining this program either as a mentor or mentee.”

  • Abdulaziz Aleissaee
“Being part of MBZUAI’s Alumni Mentorship Pilot Program has been nothing short of incredible. It’s been a full-circle moment, returning as a mentor after graduating, and having the chance to give back to the community that shaped my own journey. I had the privilege of working with Tooba Sheikh, a brilliant and driven mentee now preparing to pursue her PhD. Watching her grow, challenge herself, and thrive throughout the program was a powerful reminder of why mentorship matters.”

  • Sulaiman AlJanahi
“It was great to connect with Mohamed Insaf and get an insight and connection with the existing students body. Mentoring is something new to me and I believe it is a skill that you can develop over time, the process of connecting with people and continuously building and contributing value to each other through shared experiences and insight. I recommend everyone to try this program out and have the opportunity to connect with students that are at MBZUAI today.”

  • Tooba Tehreem Sheikh
“Being part of the MBZUAI Alumni Mentorship Program as a mentee was an incredibly rewarding experience. I had the privilege of being mentored by AbdulAziz, who supported me not only in my academic and professional development but also in my personal growth. He guided me on how to present and position myself effectively, helped me revamp my CV and LinkedIn profile, and provided invaluable advice on thesis writing — especially on how to connect ideas and structure my work coherently.”

  • Abhishek Basu
