Acting Vice President of Operations and Associate Provost for Academic Planning and Administration

Susan Wei is the Acting Vice President of Operations and Associate Provost for Academic Planning and Administration at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. She supports the President, Provost, and Vice President of Research in advancing the University’s academic and research mission. She also provides administrative leadership in translating the academic strategy and institutional priorities into scalable academic structures and programs, and a sustainable university operations infrastructure.

Wei brings extensive experience in higher education in the UAE, spanning local and international institutions, with expertise in institutional planning, policy development, faculty affairs, and academic operations.

Before joining MBZUAI, she held leadership positions at New York University Abu Dhabi, where she contributed to the institution’s academic maturation during its early growth phase. She supported the Provost and Deans in building the faculty body and strengthening the university’s academic and research foundations.

Wei began her career as a consultant advising clients across the GCC on people-focused projects, ranging from organizational design and talent development to policy formation and large-scale transformation initiatives. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the London School of Economics and an Associate Degree in Hospitality Management from the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland.
