Rima Al Mokarrab

Executive Director, Strategic Affairs Unit, Executive Affairs Authority

 

Rima Al Mokarrab serves as the Executive Director of Strategic Affairs at the Executive Affairs Authority (EAA), an organization that provides analysis and advice on a variety of portfolios to the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. For nearly two decades at the EAA, Ms. Al Mokarrab has contributed to policy planning and project delivery that advance UAE’s national priorities.

Ms. Al Mokarrab also serves as Chair of Tamkeen LLC, an organization that partners with leading local and international entities to design, develop, and deliver projects, platforms and institutions that enrich the knowledge economy, as well as the social, cultural, and educational landscape of the UAE on behalf of the Government.

In addition, Ms. Al Mokarrab serves on the boards of several international and UAE-based organizations fostering knowledge and innovation. She is the Vice Chair of the Board of Zayed University, a Trustee of New York University, a Board Member of the Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, and a Trustee of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research. She also sits on the Steering Committee for the Design Council Abu Dhabi, whose mission is to enhance Abu Dhabi’s creative economy and promote sustainable and socially responsible design practices. She previously served on the founding Board of the UAE Space Agency.

Ms. Al Mokarrab’s portfolio also includes a focus on global dialogue and forward-thinking solutions. She co-founded and co-chairs Ideas Abu Dhabi, a global thought-leadership forum hosted in partnership with the Aspen Institute. She also co-founded and co-chairs the Food Tech Challenge, a global program that identifies and promotes cutting-edge solutions poised to secure sustainable food systems.

Prior to the EAA, Ms. Al Mokarrab practiced law at an international law firm based in New York. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government (magna cum laude) from Harvard University, a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, and a Juris Doctor from Columbia University Law School.
