HE Dr. Sultan Al Jaber highlights MBZUAI role in shaping the UAE next 50

MBZUAI Student Council and Emirati students enjoyed an audience with H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of the MBZUAI Board of Trustees, on his most recent campus visit last week.

The chairman answered questions from the students and enjoyed a tour of the facilities.

His Excellency was briefed on the progress of the university’s research, collaborations and the MBZUAI Executive Program, which was designed to help UAE’s government and business entities unlock the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure smart management, increased efficiencies, and enhanced productivity.

Dr. Sultan and MBZUAI’s leadership also discussed the next phase of university’s growth and development.

Accompanying His Excellency were MBZUAI President, Professor Eric Xing, and MBZUAI Provost, Professor Fakhri Karray.

The Chairman spoke with faculty and staff, and was treated to a showcase of selected research projects including cutting-edge AI research to improve remote medical care; new visualization techniques that harness holographic technology to enhance delicate surgical procedures; and the use of dynamic sensing and machine learning to give people of determination enhanced freedom of movement; among many others.

His Excellency stated, “At Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, we are dedicated to ensuring that AI literacy is at the heart of many of the UAE Government’s strategic projects. Our academic and research initiatives are aimed at fostering the UAE’s new phase of growth and aiding the nation to embark on an ambitious path to become a hub for digital, technical and scientific excellence. With AI emerging as a critical component in the development of future solutions and as a basis for economic progress, we are confident that the next 50 years for the country will shape a better future for all.”
