MBZUAI Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Overview

MBZUAI undertakes research in the disruptive science of AI and attracts world-class thinkers and doers in computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing, computer science, robotics and beyond.

The MBZUAI Graduate Research Fellowship Program provides an opportunity for students and early career researchers to undertake a short-term research project with MBZUAI faculty to gain research experience in preparation for application to a PhD program.

Fellows work directly alongside faculty and their research group to explore innovative projects, improve research skills and network with AI leaders.

Application process and Requirements

Application open date: Year round
Selection: Rolling basis

To be considered, candidates must meet the following:

  • Final year master’s student or recent graduates and early career researchers
  • Must be completing or have a degree in STEM with a GPA of 3.5 out 4.0 or equivalent
  • Evidence of some research experience, preferably in the form of coauthors papers in top venues in the field

The application requires:

  • Transcript and graduation certificate
  • CV/Resume (3 pages maximum)
  • Research interests (2 pages maximum) – The candidate should discuss the general research direction they would like to pursue.
  • Top two faculty members they would like to work with English language proficiency
  • Official evidence of English language proficiency, such as an official letter from the University Registrar confirming that English is the medium of instruction at the applicant’s university or a valid certificate of any of the following:
    • TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 90
    • IELTS Academic with a minimum overall score of 6.5
  • Recommendation – contact details for one referee
