Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) is the world’s first graduate AI research university and is already ranked in the world’s top 20 by CSRankings for AI. Currently MBZUAI is home to 230 Master’s students and 135 PhD students and over 80 world leading faculty members led by its President, Eric Xing. The university offers MSc and PhD degrees in five programs: machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, and computer science. The new department will focus on rigorous, high-impact, original research emphasizing robot learning (eg CoRL) and robot algorithms (eg WAFR) rather than development of new robot hardware.  Topics of interest include but are not limited to deep learning, control theory, robot manipulation, quadruped locomotion, HRI, robot-assisted surgery and healthcare, precision agriculture and indoor farming, recycling, and environment and infrastructure monitoring.

Applicants will be considered at the levels of Full Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor. We invite applications from outstanding academics with a strong research focus in the field of robotics and automation. The program will emphasize software / computer science aspects of Robotics, focusing on research in robot algorithms (e.g., WAFR) and robot learning (e.g., CoRL), but also include robot hardware.

Successful applicants will be provided an attractive remuneration package and allocated generous start-up funds to stimulate research projects and build a team.
